In 1846, the Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense, a significant weaving and textile factory, established itself in Alcântara. Over the years, the 23,000m² industrial site was occupied by the Companhia Industrial de Portugal e Colónias and various printing companies.

After being hidden for years, this area has been revitalized as Lx Factory, a creative hub that supports companies and industry professionals.
